Ruth Caporello (she/her),MA,LPC

Ruth is an (almost) native Austinite who loves to travel, cook, work on puzzles, and belly laugh at a good comedy show. After becoming a parent, Ruth finds herself returning more to the love of the outdoors and a slower pace of life. A rule follower growing up, Ruth recognizes as she progresses on her own healing journey that most of life is lived in the complexities and tension of the colors in between…it actually isn’t that black and white!

After a career blend in finance and the non-profit sector (including employment for six churches, oof!), Ruth discovered in a "lightbulb" moment that counseling was the natural path from her heart’s desire to see others find wholeness and freedom. This ultimately stems from her own transformative experiences in a counseling setting and a desire to see exceptional therapy become more accessible to all.

Ruth considers it a high honor to engage others’ stories and help them find valuable clarity and purpose therein. As a Licensed Professional Counselor, Ruth is certified in Narrative Focused Trauma Care by the Allender Center, DBT, Addiction recovery therapy, and Betrayal Trauma/Infidelity therapy. Ruth is ETT certified, employing color and light to more quickly identify where traumatic memory is lodged in the body and brain, which leads to more effective therapy results. It is a gentle, effective model that works well for those with neurodivergent and neurotypical brains alike!

Skilled in exploring issues of anxiety, ADHD, religious trauma, life transitions, identity and purpose, parenting and fertility, relationships, depression, CPTSD, attachment, familial legacy, or just wanting something different, Ruth is committed to providing an intentionally inclusive, safe space to heal in a partnership built on trust.

Ruth intentionally values cultural sensitivity, inclusivity, and appreciation for the unique gift that each person offers this world. Ruth serves clients of a variety of faiths, ethnicities, identities, backgrounds, and perspectives. She explores issues including anxiety, depression, shame/guilt, life transitions, relational challenges, identity struggles, religious trauma, attachment, purpose, and even just wanting something different in life. As a mentor once said, we never “arrive,” but are simply up to date - and true healing is found in community, trust, and the safety we share with another brave & willing heart.
